Album

Blues People music album released 2014-11-04, published by Dixiefrog Records. Eric Bibbs new album is both a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. s I Have a Dream speech, and a homage to the original blues people, the Afro-American creators of a style celebrated today as part of the common heritage of mankind. Blues People is an album voluntarily bare, haunted by the spirit of the blues. Many good friends managed to join the recording sessions and brought their own contributions. They include The Blind Boys Of Alabama, Taj Mahal, J. Milteau, Popa Chubby, Ruthie Foster, Harrison Kennedy, Leyla McCalla, André De Lange and Guy Davis. Eric Bibb's version of the blues is hushed and elegant, as much or more about redemption as it is about despair. His best songs, often built on traditional patterns and rhythms, are wise and affirming, and they fall to the brighter and more hopeful side of the blues, a vision that makes him the spiritual descendant of Blind Willie Johnson, say, more than Robert Johnson. Bibb isn't about to go down to the crossroads and make some deal with the devil. His version of folk-blues isn't about that sort of stuff. It's closer to gospel in tone, with a strong commitment to bettermen. Blues People Eric Bibb. Listen on Apple People. Eric Bibb - Blues People 2014. To favorites 3 Download album. Listen album. On previous albums left Eric Bibb hear that the blues is an elastic concept for him. He took with Habib Koité an album on in Africa (Brothers In Bamako) and dropped to Spirit I Am (2008) inspired by gospel music. Blues People according to Bibb is a tribute to the blues troubadours of yore. The thread on this album is the struggle that African-Americans. From slave to become a full citizen, a journey that according to Bibb has still not been completed. Like his father, the folk singer and activist Leon Bibb, put Eric therefore active in against racism. The fifteen songs are a reminder of the former misery, such as the fate of the homeless musician in Driftin Door To Door. Probing is also the song Rosewood, in which Bibb tells of a pogrom in which in 1923 seven black Americans were killed. With a rich list guest artists (Popa Chubby, Blind Boys Of Alabama, Taj Mahal and Ruthie Foster) delivers more than inspired Eric Bibb a blues album.
