And they never looked back in fact, no band of their stature has ever looked back less. There were no gussied-up reissues or valedictory anthologies to cement the bands legacy for latecomers or fans who wanted something beyond the sludgy audio quality of older recordings that was growing less romantic with age. This longstanding animosity and frustration isnt mere backstory its the reason Savage Young Dü is an event at all, more momentous than the sum of its ramshackle parts. Released by the Numero Group in 2017, this compilation album features rare tracks by the Punk trio Hüsker Dü during their primitive years. It encompasses a vast amount of material recorded and performed between their formation in 1979 and their signing to SST Records in 1983. This compilation includes demos, live tracks, and studio recordings. While the majority of the tracks included have never had an official release, it also includes their singles StatuesAmusement and In a Free Land along with their first full length studio debut Everything Falls Apart

Hüsker Dü first gained notability as a hardcore punk band, later crossing over into alternative rock. Mould and Hart were the principal songwriters for Hüsker Dü, with Hart's higher-pitched vocals and Mould's baritone taking the lead in alternating songs. For the vinyl edition, is anyone selling JUST the box? Mine unfortunately came in the mail with an intense smoke smell stained all over the box itself. I'd love to replace it. Thanks in advance!
Darkshaper
Instead of 4th Lp being white vinyl, some box sets contain a black vinyl 4th Lp. Can anyone shed some light on this? All other (3) Lps match up with colours. This is a possible box set color variation imo, given my experience with record pressing plants always pressing a few extra copies per colour run.
Froststalker
First I've heard of it, I hope I don't have to track one down haha
Eseve
how can you tell if your box has the 7" in it?
Yramede
The 7" isn't in the box, it was sold as an add-on item separate from the box.
Wenyost
I think the 7" Extra Circus record should be listed separate from the box sets. It is not part of the box set, it was just a bonus item you could order "in addition" to the box set. Being a Numero Gold Subscriber I had the option to order the 7" Extra Circus on it's own, separate from the box set. I did and received the green/turquoise 7". Now, how do I add this 7" to my Discogs collection if it doesn't have it's own entry?
Yanthyr
I have a black vinyl Extra Circus I would be willing to part with. Only played once. Message if interested.
Oreavi
Now that's interesting. I need a black vinyl Extra Circus. Maybe some will crop up.
Ventelone
Just bought the green vinyl 7"on its own at the Numero Pop Up shop.
Fearlesssinger
looking to purchase just the 7". anyone? anyone?

is there a way to determine silver vs. whie without opening it?
Nkeiy
damm it i ripped the sticker off, now i will never know,,,
Datrim
hahaha. wow. thanks. i am an idiot!
Keramar
Look at the UPC sticker on the bottom of the box. It will say either "Silver" or "White."
cyrexoff
Anyone wants to sell me the extra circus 7inch? 10 words.

Super stiff cardboard covers which is great, but the records were all covered in dust and debris from said sleeves and forced in without a lot of care, all records had some element of marks/scratches on them. Have seen someone else comment with same issue. Shame, this is an beautiful set otherwise.
Akirg
The releases are available separately except for the 7" EP. I think the 7” should be listed separately. What if I wanted to sell just the 7”? How would I do that in the marketplace unless they are unbundled?
Phain
If you want to sell your 7”, let me know. They messed up my pre-order, by the time they figured it out and shipped the vinyl box they’d run out of the 7”.
Gravelblade
Have the 3 CD + 7" vinyl "Extra Circus" edition of this. Kudos to Numero Group: this is a fantastic release and I am amazed they made the original recordings (many from cassette is my understanding) sound as good as they do! And the booklet and packaging had a lot of love and care put into it, along with great liner notes. Hardcore Husker fans need to get a copy of this if they can. Perhaps Numero will do another pressing? (just adding that last thought for folks who don't want to pay scalper-like costs on eBay etc.)

Shame on all you flippers selling this the day it came out with a mark-up. Please see this comment:https://www.discogs.com/Hüsker-Dü-Savage-Young-Dü/release/11118155

To all you flippers who have this album listed the day it came out, still sealed for $50 more than the sticker price: you are rotten people. There are a lot of folks out there who really wanted this album because they wanted to own it and enjoy it and listen to it, but they couldn’t get it because some vulture swooped down on it before they had a chance. I hope nobody buys these records from you and I am taking a screen shot of all your names so I can make sure to NEVER buy anything from you EVER. I would encourage anyone else who despises flippers to do the same, we can’t stop them but we can hit them in the pocketbook if enough of us refuse to buy from them. Peace out, thumbs down to you flippers and happy hunting to all my fellow collectors
Flamehammer
Aha! Now it all makes sense. Shucks milehi, I really understand your angle now. Thanks for the insight into how flippers justify flipping. Best of luck to you big pimpin’

mUsicjUnkiE78 This is to milehi; So did you “rip and flip” the other overpriced rsd album you could not find? If you just wanted to hear the digital, you know just the digital of the husker du album is available for purchase. Pre order too. You could hear it on Spotify too the day it came out. Why did you preorder the records with no intention of listening to them? Sure, if a record came out 60+ years ago in limited supply and someone bought one and took care of it all these years, then yes, they should be able to ask a pretty penny for it. But there is a big difference between that and the people who swoop down on new records and buy them with the sole intention of getting them before someone who really wants them, so they can sell it to that person who really wants it for an exorbitant price. Does this make sense to you or do those seem like the same thing in your mind?I have no problem with supply and demand. It is a free country, which means I am also free to not purchase from those people and say I think they suck for depriving my fellow music fans of the music they crave in order to make a buck. You are free to flip records all day, it just seems like a chicken shit way to make money. Milehi, your question about Numero “deliberately creating this artificially contrived rarity” sounds more like a high school kid trying to throw some fancy words out there than a legit question. I would like to ask you what is so “contrived” about this collection? Numero dug up some very rare hard to find Husker tracks and packaged them very nicely (as they always do) for us hardcore fans. Please explain to me why that would outrage me. I genuinely want to know. Thank you @ mUsicjUnkiE78First off, I did not pre-order with intent to resell nor to never play it, your assertions are both wrong.I did not just want to hear the 'digital', creating vinyl transfers is a hobby, and they sound better to me, it is subjective, and is my preference. I do see buying and reselling for profit regardless of timeframe as the same. You clearly have a timeframe on "okay to resell for profit", I do not.Further, I'll be long dead in 60+ years. The 'contrived rarity' is the fact Numero deliberately pressed a small number of the colored vinyl - it has no bearing at all on sound quality.Humans tend to crave rare or scarce things, record companies know this, and they employ this tactic to drive interest. It is the fundamental operating model for RSD, to make you think you got something special or rare. There are still plenty of regular black vinyl copies of Savage Young Du available in my local shops and here for ~$50, so am not sure who you think I ever deprived of the music?I preordered because I wanted it, I really did not care about the rare colored vinyl version, but I received one. It was clear that other fans and 'collectors' wanted the colored vinyl a lot more than I did, and were happily paying more to own it, so apparently I suck because of this?Numero created this market opportunity by pressing the 'rare colored vinyl variation', but the unlimited stock version is still readily available.

What is your good-karma statute of limitations on re-sale for any profit based on current market value?I wish I was born early enough to buy original 1950s Blue Note Jazz albums. But look at those prices! Every seller is a vulture!I wish every RSD pressing was available to me, especially the 2013 CRB Betty's Blends, but it isn't -- it is going for 8x original cost. Vultures! When something is rare, very often the price goes up. If you want it, you pay the vultures to get it.I subscribe to the Numero list and knew it was coming, I pre-ordered it, I loved Husker Du.And yeah, I got it, I ripped it, flipped it, still enjoying the music! I put the proceeds toward another overpriced (in this case RSD) album I could not find at original list price, that I missed due to fellow "vultures" I guess..And so it goes, it is something called 'supply and demand', well documented on the internet and taught in many schools. Finally, where is your outrage toward Numero Group for deliberately creating this artificially contrived rarity?
Bynelad
Agreed. The worst part is the record stores flipping it here when they should've sold to local customers. I pre-ordered this from a local store a month ago, but somewhere along the line someone oversold it, and now this store is not getting any ltd versions at all. Also, the regular unlimited version that we had to settle for is delayed. We have to wait for the next pressing. I'm basically seeing my own copy of this being flipped here.
Fordrellador
I would have made 50 versions with 80 colours because that seems to be more important to sales these days than the music on the disc.
Direbringer
christ, you're a buzzkill. you're worse than the middle-aged high-end audio equipment geeks that come into my store, but only buy the same beatles records 20 times.
Shem
I don’t think it’s necessarily more important but rather it's easier for the marketing boys to sell. Everyone understands a colour; music and sound quality is much harder to pitch. The plethora of coloured vinyl these days is an idea created by the record labels and not the "market" (which itself is often created by the business owners and is not genuine demand)
Quashant
Is it random if the 7" is included or does it tell you?
Ballalune
The 7" is not part of the box set (or stored inside the box set). It would have shipped loose. If you have an "unopened" box set, the only thing inside will be the 4 LP's.
LadyShlak
500 of the silver, any idea on the black and white counts?
Jeronashe
Had a chat with numero on instagram, they said 500 on white.
Beanisend
a second run is available from numero - 10 words.
Ttexav
How can people already own this..or sell it, when it isn't released yet? is some sort of "back to the future" type time machine involved here
Ienekan
If you pre-ordered it from Numero, it shipped about 2 weeks ago.
Longitude Temporary
Numero started shipping pre-orders a couple of weeks ago, ahead of the "official" release date.
Fearlessrunner
cmon. it has been released and shipped. maybe you are referencing to the second run (which is available now).
Maridor
Numero Group regularly ships their pre-orders early, at least all the times I've pre-ordered a release from them I get it prior to street date. I believe I've always gotten the digital download almost immediately upon ordering too.
Siralune
I got both the black and silver vinyl and both of my 7" are black.
Tygrarad
Got an email today from Numero saying that the black version of the 7" is more rare than the aqua/greenish.
Xar
I got same response from Numero when I inquired, their response:"The colors for the Extra Circus single are actually random. Black is, incidentally, the rarest, if that makes a difference."
Dianantrius
Some black vinyl copies were sent with SILVER copies of the box set.
Kefrannan
I mean, it's Numero Group. Bong rips are a food group for them.
Prince Persie
I received black copy with my Silver vinyl box set.
terostr
I got the silver 12" pieces in my box set, but Extra Circus showed up as black vinyl?
Flathan
I got a green copy of the 7" with the cd boxset.
Quynaus
I think extra circus 7” was handed out by both the silver boxset, black boxset and cd version. Plus I assume their should be another entry for the black boxset and cd version without the extra circus 7”.
Gann
yep.. these definitely exist:1 Silver Vinyl with 7" on green2 Silver Vinyl without 7"3 black vinyl with green 7"4 black vinyl without 7"5 black vinyl with black 7"6 CD without 7"7 CD with Green 7" 8 CD with black 7"9 white vinyl these might exist:CD with Extra Circus CD (someone vaguely mentioned getting the CD version of EC in their pack but not what CD or records they got I extrapolated)Silver vinyl with black 7" (have not heard anyone mention getting this yet)I personally think there should just be separate silver, black, white vinyl versions, cd version and 3 entries for black, green and CD of Extra circus but that possibility has been overruled.
Arihelm
Did this green one only get sent to people who got the box on silver vinyl? My copy is black.
Innadril
from an employee of Numero:"Yes, roughly 1100 Extra Circus 7"s. Half black, half aqua. There was no deciding factor on who got what. It was all random."
Enila
I pre-ordered the CD, which came with a green copy of the single. I figured mine would be black.
Zulurr
no, I ordered the cds and received the green 7''.
Burisi
silver + green for me, but I don't remember being presented with a choice on the 7" color
Landamath
My copy came with the CD version. Probably random insertion.
Cerana
oh weird I don't think they mentioned anything like this when they put it up on the site for sale I don't think?Mine is on green and I got the limited silver vinyl, I emailed someone who works at Numero to see if I can get any answers, I'll update if I get any answers.
